Room 5 Penguin Box's
Check out our Gisborne Herald article about our penguin boxes here
Our Inquiry Topic is: Actions Speak louder than words
This term we made penguin box’s. Our teacher helped us.
We did this because our blue penguin rates are going down.
We placed our penguin box’s at the beach. You will see on my map.
To monitor our penguin boxes we are checking them once a week and sometimes a mont to make sure they are going alright or the entrance is clear.
Nga Manu Waiata will further support us by putting traps by penguin box’s.

Native Adventure
On friday we went to Young Nic's Head to see the ecosanctuary and a tuatara. We went by car and then we had to walk up some huge mountains. Once we got up one we had some food. Then we started heading down to climb up the next one. I was one of the first ones to get there so I waited for a couple more people. once the rest of the people got there we started to climb up the last hill. Then we were finally where the tuatara was.
This was the tuatara that Room 5 saw. We all got to touch him but the parents that came got to hold him they were so lucky. |
This was as on the way back looking at some stuffed animals. |

Room 5 tunnel data
This is a graph of the pests that room 5 court. The nothing one had the most but that's a good thing. Room 5 all got this tunnel thing were you took an ink pad and left in overnight. But you will need a spoonful of peanut butter in the middle. Then you can leave it overnight. It takes quit a long time before you actually get some footprints and then we made this.
